Our Origin

Aleksey's Imports was founded in January 2005 by Alexei Khimenko, President and Owner of the Company. Originally from Moscow, Alexei began touring as a professional dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet Grigorovich Theatre in 1990 at the age of seventeen. After more than a decade of international performance he retired in 2001 and moved to Nashville with his wife, Mayumi Hanabusa, who had also been his dance partner for several years. In 2003 he started his first business, Aleksey's Market, a grocery/delicatessen specializing in traditional foods from Russia and Eastern Europe. Over time he received many questions from his customers regarding the availability of wines and spirits from countries such as Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, and the Ukraine. After doing some research he applied for a wholesale distribution license and began offering a small selection of Brandy and Wine to area restaurants and retailers. By August of 2005 Alexei was joined by his first employees and has continued to grow since. What began as one man armed with a few cases, a Volvo, and a dream is now a successful Distribution company that services fine Restaurants and retail accounts in over thirty counties in Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Aleksey's Imports is dedicated to representing quality Wines and Spirits from around the world and providing consistent professional service to our clients and suppliers.
